The city with the massive medieval fortress at the feet of the Pyrenees must be one of the favourites of Tour de France organizers, because the place served as a start or a finish of a stage already for seven times in the 21th century.
Last time the race visited Carcassonne in 2022, the day resulted in a bunch sprint won by Jassper Philipsen. A year earlier the city witnessed Mark Cavendish’s 34th Tour de France stage victory.
Now it seems, that
Carcassonne will host a finish once again.
According to an article of L’Independant he 14th stage (19th July 2025) will ends here.
Surprisingly, unlike other significant places of Languedoc like Toulouse, Montpellier, or Perpignan, the Tour de France discovered Carcassonne relatively late. The race visited it for the first time only in 1947. Carcassonne hosted the finish of the 13th stage, won by Lucien Teisseire, also provided the start kf the next day, when Albert Bourlon delivered his epic 253 km long solo breakaway and won the stage in Luchon.
The official route representation for Tour de France 2025 will he held on 29 October 2024. While waiting for the day, please check out the latest Tour de France 2025 route rumours.
