Since 1911, Tour de France visits the Alps every year. While the introduction of the high mountains in southeast France to the race might have been less dramatic than the Pyrenees, the ascents of the mightiest peaks still can bring drama into the race every single time.
We still have to wait for the official route presentation (29 October 2024) , but according to the latest rumours Tour de France 2025 will visit the Alps on the end of the thirds week.
Stage 18 and 19 seem the most likely days ro have mountain stages in the Alps, while the penultimate stage might be heading north, leading out the peloton from the Alpine region.
Earlier this month rumours were circulating about Alpe d'Huez being a part of the 18th stage, but it seems more and more unlikely. (More possible that the race will return to Alpe d'Huez in 2026).
Actually, considering that the third week might begin with climbing Mont Ventoux , it would have been surprising to have a stage ending on Alpe d'Huez two days later.
So what we have insted?
Stage 18 will most likely include Col du Glandon and Col de la Loze.
Meanwhile the 19th stage will end on La Plagne.
