Do you like road cycling history?

Cyclists readdijg newspaper during the Tour de France in the 1920s

As you might have noticed, even when I try to present useful and relevant content about the upcoming Tour de France, I put it in historical context. Thus the incredible rich history of Tour de France is always present in my articles on a certain level.

But if you’re interested in more, please, visit the Vintage Cycling Stories blog, other member of my PelotonTales blogfamily, where you can read, for example about the toughest Tour de France stage ever, or learn a bit more about those famous “smoking cyclists”.

You can also find stories from the history of other road cycling races. Read more about when Fiorenzo Magni’s heroic efforts at Giro d’Italia 1956 or the Milano-Sanremo edition when only four riders finished the race.

As you can see, the more we reach back in time the more stories are to read. This is the uniqueness of the blog, how it focuses more on the first half of the 20th century.

One of the aspects that makes the early history of road cycling so fascinating is the sheer human drama involved in the races.

And human drama is the core of every great story.
