Although for many cycling fans Tour de France is the peak of the cycling season, here is a reminder, that the Giro d'Italia will start soon, as usual, cca two months before the French grand tour.
Giro d'Italia 2025 will start on 9th May 2025.
The race will end on the 1st of June 2025.
This year Albania will host the first three stages, and the peloton will travel back to Italy on an extra rest day before the 4th stage (the first stage in Italy) will kick off.
If you'd like to take a look at the first three stages, here are the links to click:
As you can see, I prepared a little different stage introduction as it usual in the world of cycling blogging and journalism. Because this season is my last road cycling season, (means, I indend to spend significantly less time with current road cycling competitions and focus on other more important life goals), I try to connect what I write about road cycling with my other projects, especially history, historical fiction, art and cultural history.
While here on the Tour de France 2025 special project I'm about to focus more on the 18th century stuff of French history (partially because my much beloved 18th century special project), with the Italian grand tour I'm going to play a bit different game, because I feel Italian culture much closer to me than the French one.
So it's going to be much more about an overall view, a general sense of what Italy means to me.
Also, because there is this weird stupid viral thing about someone always thinking about the Roman Empire, I decided to mock it a bit. As you can see, in case of every stage I tried to find something special from the ancient Roman time about the host cities or other places alongside the route.
Thus if you can't stop thinking about the Roman Empire even during the Giro d'Italia, my little blog will help you to fuel your ardent enthusiasm.
