Mont-Dore where the peloton is heading to on Bastille Day (Tour de France route rumors)

Although currently there is only a small hint about the finish place of the Bastille Day stage of Tour de France 2025, let’s talk a bit about Mont-Dore.

Le Mont-Dore is a commune in the Puy de Dôme department in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in central France. It’s located in the Massif Central, on the right bank of the Dordogne not far from its source, and 50 km by road southwest of Clermont-Ferrand. The Monts Dore close the valley towards the south. The place is a ski resort with runs on the slopes of the Puy de Sancy and the Puy Ferrand. Thirty runs account for 42 km of downhill skiing, served by a number of lifts of different types. There are also 25 km of cross-country trails.

Last time visited the place during the 10th stage in 2023. The intermediate sprint was located in Le Mont-Dore.

The dillemma with Bastille Day and the first rest day

In 2025, 14 July will be a Monday, thus more likely the rest day will be pushed to the next day. And actually it’s not the reason why currently there are some big question marks behind the possibility of the peloton visiting this place, or even this region on Bastille Day.

As we take a look at the possibly route of the first week of the race, mostly in Normandy and Brittany, and we can take it almost certain that Toulouse will host the first rest day of the race, the Puy-De-Dôme region seems a bit random and far from that possible route from Brittany to the Pyrenees.

Anyway, if not earlier, then on 29th October 2024, when the official route presentation will take place in Paris, we will learn more about this stage.

Till then, pelase come back and take a look at the Latest Tour de France 2025 rumours post frequently. There is always something new to read.
