Last time Tour de France visited Mont Ventoux in 2021. It was a unique occasion, the peloton had to climb the ascent twice, and Wout van Aert celebrated a great victory.
Now it looks like the famous place will back in the program of Tour de France 2025, most likely on the day (stage 16) right after the second rest day
Currently it seems the most possible that Montpellier will host the peloton on the third Monday of the race, and the next stage (the 16th) will start there.
Since the introduction of Mont Ventoux to Tour de France in 1951, when the peloton visits the famous windy peak, it usually starts from Montpellier.
But there are other hints why we can hope that the race would visit this fan-favourite ascent again. Recently some newspaper articles (like this one) referred to the words of Dominique Santini, the president of Vaucluse department that it’s 99% sure that Tour de France will visit the department, which also can easily mean that the cyclists will have to climb Mont Ventoux in July 2025.
Finally, informations started flooding about the possible route of Tour de France 2025 during the recent few days. There are more and more rumors and speculations.
Don’t forget, the official route presentation will be held on 29 October 2024.
The next Tour de France will be held between 5 and 27 July 2025.
